Great Stone Face Award 2007 - 2008

During the 2007-2008 school year, students in Lincoln Street School will participate in the Great Stone Face Book Award. Sponsored and established by the Children's Librarians of New Hampshire (CHILIS) in 1980, the award is given annually to an author whose book receives the most votes from students in grades four through six throughout the state. Each year, the Great Stone Face Committee compiles a list of 25 recently published titles for the children to select, read, and choose as best of the year. Voting takes place throughout the state in schools and public libraries in April during National Library Week. The winner is announced in May at the annual conference of the New Hampshire Library Association. (NHLA)

LSS students in fourth and fifth grades are encouraged to read as many books as they can from the compiled list of Great Stone Face Nominees. To see a list of the nominated books click here or check out our Great Stone Face Book Award Display in the media center. Get busy reading, voting will take place in the Lincoln Street School Media Center during the week of April 15 - 21, 2008.
